Greetings from Skamokawa
Skamokawa's Skunk Cabbage Spring has Sprung!
And
pastures yellow with daffodils
beckon lovers to stride the verdant fairways.

But what is this, the
Freeway to Paradise??
We now have a rebuilt lower driveway, but please remember
the slow speed limit:
The air is filled with alder pollen and the incredible sounds of
thousands of Western chorus frogs serenading you
from our
pond.
- It's not just the frogs who will be singing, either.
Our ultra good buddies
Steve and Kristi Nebel
will be performing at the Pioneer Church
Arts Center in close-by Cathlamet on Saturday, April 19.
If you'd like to go to the concert and then meet them at
the Inn at Lucky Mud, plan to book a room for the night.
It will be fun. I had a successful concert there in
January with Dave Speranza on double bass and Craig
Bidondo from Portland on piano. I sang in my tux and
banged on the guitar.
Jessica's been busy growing vegetables for our locovore dinners. We're already eating lettuce, arugula, radiccio, spinach and chives, with promises of much more to come. I have been planting full-sized apple trees in our orchard to replace the 120 year old pioneer trees now slowly senescing.
Our local Grange is putting on a 1908 vaudeville show on June 20, 21 and 22 in Skamokawa to support our county fair's 100th birthday. Jessica is pursuing funding for (or a gift of) a much-needed velour curtain (2 @ 12' X 9+'). And I am fundraising for a Grange sound system.
So, if you want to enjoy the Columbia/Pacific Region this spring, stop by and check out our new driveway.
We will welcome your visit.
And remember, the days are now getting
even l o n g e r . . . .
